The YFG-811 (left) features a standard body wall thickness, providing universal compatibility and broad expressive capability for the widest range of players and playing styles. We don't know who made it, but Thibouville-Lamy or Noblet would be a good guess. This book, written by Tula Giannini, is an important and original contribution to the history of the flute based on primary source material. The clarinets provide stronger high-register support than the oboes (especially those of Mozart’s time) would have been able to offer, but the intervals between flute and first clarinet are precariously wide in places. The construction of double reeds for the oboe family of instruments is similar to that of the bassoon reeds, however the oboe does not have a bocal, and the cane has to be fastened to a metal tube that is the staple and the lower half surrounded by a piece of cork.
